Vauxhall

A walk around Vauxhall in 2009. You could see the Gas Works from Albert Embankment then because of some building work going on. Its a great area to draw with the viaducts, open spaces and mixture of old and modern architecture; like Vauxhall tube station. Pencil on A4 paper

Lewes, Part 1

September 2022

These drawings come from a week of walks in September, they were made for an exhibition at Gallery 127 on Lewes High Street, one of a series of shows organised by the Nu Artists group for Artwave. I worked in a different part of Lewes each day on A5 paper and hung all the drawings in the gallery, building up a record of the walks and eventually filling a wall of the gallery. Lucy Newman & Sara Grisewood were the other artists in the show.

National Gallery

Ive made drawings from the paintings at the National Gallery before, but on this visit I wanted to add some context by including the gallery space, the gallery assistants and visitors to the gallery. This approach also gave me the opportunity to look at the relationships between paintings hung side by side.
